Maine West Class of 2017 Senior Calendar
The schedule of senior activities is listed below. Appropriate dress and arrival on time are required in order for students to participate. Please notice events indicating appropriate dress. It will not be necessary to buy new clothes for each event, as many of the activities call for the same attire. For instance, girls can wear the same dress for the Honors Assembly and under their gowns at the Commencement Exercises.
Seniors will meet on Friday, April 28 in the Auditorium during first period for a final review of and preparation for the upcoming senior events. Marching partners for graduation will be determined at this time and details given to students.
*Senior Final Examinations and Senior BBQ
Senior final examinations will be given on Tuesday, May 16, periods 1, 3, 5, 8, and 9; and Wednesday, May 17, periods 2, 4, 6, and 7. Finals will end on Wednesday at 1:48 and seniors will be dismissed to attend a Senior Barbecue on the front lawn. Senior Class Superlatives, Wills, and Memories will be distributed.
Tickets must be purchased in the Bookstore by the end of the 6th period on Friday, May 12. Prom will be held on Friday, May 19 at the Chateau Ritz in Niles. Ticket costs are $50 and parking is free. At least one person of each couple must be a member of this year’s Maine West Senior Class. Only seniors with a school ID will be permitted to purchase tickets and all students must have their school ID with them to attend prom. Tickets must be paid for in cash or by credit card. Please indicate if a vegetarian dinner is requested or if there are any allergy concerns when purchasing tickets. Non-Maine West students must not be over the age of 20 and they must complete a guest form in the Deans’ office. Students arriving after 8:30 p.m. will not be admitted. Students cannot pay at the door.
Seniors will be given marching numbers and instructions on Wednesday, May 17 in the Principal’s Conference Room, L102, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. Seniors should stop by during their lunch period to pick-up this information.
All seniors meet in the Auditorium on Thursday, May 18 at 7:45 a.m. for marching practice. Practice will conclude no later than 11:00 a.m. and is mandatory.
*Cap/Gown Pick-Up and Ticket Distribution
Every student will receive eight (8) tickets for the commencement ceremony. Caps, gowns, and commencement tickets will be distributed after Marching Practice on Thursday, May 18 in the Spec Gym Foyer.
All financial fees (lost athletic equipment, library books and gym locks not returned, unpaid IDs, etc.) must be paid for in advance in order to receive caps and gowns. Please Note: After April 13, all payments by seniors must be made in cash or by credit card; no checks will be accepted. Also, every senior must have turned in his/her post graduation plans survey. Seniors with outstanding obligations will need to resolve them before caps and gowns will be given to them.
*Senior Honors Assemblyu
The Senior Honors Assembly will be held on Friday, May 19 at 8:00 a.m. in the Spec Gym. Seniors should meet in the Auditorium no later than 7:40 a.m. (Girls should wear a dress/dress pants and boys should wear suits and ties or sport coats and ties and slacks. Shorts are not permitted.)
The Senior Prom will be held on Friday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. at the Chateau Ritz in Niles. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. Students must arrive before 8:30 p.m. in order to be admitted. Ballroom doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The “Appropriate Dance Policy” will be in effect. (Girls should wear formal attire and boys should wear tuxedos.)
We will be selling prom dresses outside the cafeteria between L- and C-wings. Interested students can try them on Wednesdays, April 12, 19 and 26 until 4:30 p.m. All dresses are $10 and money raised will go to the school wide fundraiser. The Commencement Exercises will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rosemont Theatre. Doors open at 10:00 a.m. and students should arrive at the Theatre by 10:00. (Girls should wear a dress or dress pants and boys should wear a dress shirt, slacks, and a tie under their robe. Shorts are not permitted.)
Carpool! Carpool! Carpool! Free parking is limited to 500 spaces at the Rosemont Theatre. Additional parking is available for $15 in the parking garage across the street.
Seniors will receive eight (8) Commencement tickets. Additional tickets are not available. Families needing more tickets will need to find a family not using all of their tickets.

Senior Send-off Messages
Family and friends will have the opportunity to purchase a Send-Off message for their senior in the Graduation Program.Additional information is included here. Students love seeing these messages in the program, so please consider adding yours.
Maine West has again arranged for an outside professional photography studio, GradImages, to photograph our graduates individually as the diploma is received. The availability of these photographs is strictly a service to our parents and graduates. You will be contacted directly by the studio. Information can be found on their website, www.gradimages.com.
