District 207 to Host Screening of Documentary on Standardized Testing

District 207 will host a screening of the documentary “The Test and The Art of Thinking” on Wednesday, November 14 at Maine South High School. The documentary examines the purpose, role and effectiveness of standardized tests in the admissions process.

In addition to the documentary screening, the evening will include a presentation from Jon Boeckenstedt, Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management and Marketing at DePaul University. He will provide a perspective from the university community on standardized testing and the admissions process.

Students and parents are encouraged to attend this event.

Those in attendance also will be given the opportunity to ask a panel of college admissions professionals along with Career and College Admissions Specialists from District 207 Robyn Moreth, Cody Dailey and Mark Weber.

The documentary has received strong reviews with the New York Times calling it “Fascinating,” and the Hollywood Reporter stating: “The film ‘challenges the assumptions underlying our present higher education system.’” A teaser of the film is available at www.thetestdoc.org.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. in the Maine South Auditorium, 1111 South Dee Road, Park Ridge.
