Department Information
Maine Township High School District 207 serves students and families who have arrived in our community from throughout the world. For our English Language Learners, Maine 207 offers supports and services to ensure not only English proficiency, but also high-level academic knowledge and skills, literacy development in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, and an emphasis on helping students integrate successfully into the academic and social life of Maine West. The curriculum and instruction focuses on the WIDA English Language Development Standards, College Readiness, and the Common Core State Standards through the Illinois Learning Standards

Maine 207 Bilingual & ELL Services

The specific ELL levels and courses taught within the ELL Department include:

  • Beginning ELL
  • English Through Content I – Language Arts (Reading Elective credit)

Level Two

  • Advanced Beginning ELL
  • English Through Content II – Language Arts

Level Three

  • Intermediate ELL

  • Advanced American English Skills
  • Sheltered Content Courses are also offered to our English language learners in

Illinois Seal of Biliteracy
Maine Township High School District 207 is proud to participate in the Seal of Biliteracy program, which recognizes students who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. This Seal of Biliteracy also carries national recognition.
