Welcome to Maine West Athletics, Home of the Warriors!
My name is Darrell Mathis and it is with great enthusiasm and pride that I serve in the role of Athletic Director here at Maine West. I am eager to embark on this journey alongside our exceptional coaches and the incredibly talented and diverse student athletes of Maine West.
Here at Maine West, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment that embraces every student, regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or socio-economic status. At Maine West, we are all Warriors, united in our passion for sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
As a proud member of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and the Central Suburban League (CSL), Maine West competes fiercely in the North Division of the CSL conference. Currently, we boast a comprehensive array of 29 athletic teams, comprising of 14 girls teams, 11 boys teams, and 4 co-ed programs. Our commitment extends beyond the playing field. Here at Maine West, we proudly uphold the philosophy of being an Education-Based Athletics Department. We firmly believe that athletics is not just a separate entity but an extension of the classroom. Engaging in sports is viewed as an educational activity that goes beyond the playing fields or courts, offering exceptional opportunities to impart valuable life lessons to our student-athletes. In alignment with our educational approach, our coaches are dedicated to instilling not only athletic skills but also essential values such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, and sportsmanship. We understand that the lessons learned through sports contribute significantly to the overall development of our students, shaping them into well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of life beyond high school. As we embark on this exciting journey together, our commitment to the complete success of our student-athletes remains unwavering.
